New Book by Terry Flow – Copyright and Developing Countries

Professor Terry Flew from CCI has published a new book entitled Global Creative Industries that discusses the case of strengthening copyright in developing countries.

UNCTAD and other international organizations recommend various culture policies and strategies aiming to promote creative industries in developing countries. Often these policies recommend better securing of intellectual property rights (IPRs) to allow producers and distributors in developing countries to recoup their investments and financial returns.

Professor Flow also discusses piracy concerns in developing countries and how it is looked at not as a theft, but as a form of counter – power against western multinationals exploiting poor consumers in the developing world.
