New Draft Telecommunication Law in Jordan

The Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies in Jordan is accepting public comments on the draft of Telecommunications and Information Technology Law until the end of January 2013.

The draft law is criticized for being old fashioned and not following international developments in the field of telecomunication and information technology. The law does not discuss network neutrality, accessibility to the Internet by visually impaired, ISP liability, Internet and digital divide, open access and open standards. The Jordan Open Source Association is preparing its comments to the Ministry and I will be assisting them as well.

The draft law is only available in Arabic here.
